I enjoy learning new techniques and card styles. Today I am sharing a Side Step card that is made for a few challenges. Mary at CARDZ TV has an excellent video sharing the step by step cutting directions for a side step card. Thank you Mary for your great videos!
After cutting, scoring, and turning the card, the steps on my card are on the left side! Most cards have the steps on the right side. I must have goofed, but I thought it looked ok, so I am using it. Now to decorating, I needed hearts, flowers, the word Love and also Love/Valentine theme! The double-sided paper is K&Company....I love the pack of paper. I used Cricut Sweethearts cartridge for the hearts, flower, and word Love. Hearts are on page 72 and using the regular and layer cuts are 2 3/4 inches. Flower is on page 73 and is cut at 2 inches using the regular and layer features. The word Love is on page 34 and using the regular and shadow features is cut at 1 1/2 inches. I chose to use Cricut Lacy Labels cartridge for the label and words. The label is the first image on line 1 and is cut 3 1/2 inches. The words Love You are with this label. Because I used the word Love from Sweethearts cartridge, I chose to use the words "you & me". This image is the second one on line 4. The words were also cut at 3 1/2 inches.
The label is embossed using the Cuttlebug Hearts folder and Swiss Dot folder is used on one heart background. To add a bit of lace look, I cut strips using the Martha Stewart Lace Heart punch and glued the strips on each step and top of main piece. Wouldn't you know it! I covered up most of the lace trim!! Lots of Martha Stewart pink ink, a pearl gemstone, and pop-dots complete my card!
For my first side step card, I think it turned out ok! What do you think?
