Chillin' with Melon

If you are looking for Fantabulous Cricut Guest Designer post, please click here or just scroll down!

Happy Monday everyone! Welcome new followers! Many thanks to you for your interest and choosing to follow my craft making!  I appreciate all the comments and visits to my blog! I have been having blogger problems. For several days, I have been unable to see my followers. I could see the number of followers on my dashboard, but no photos. Also, I have not been able to see followers on other blogs or able to be a follower. I am wondering if anyone else is experiencing this problem. Hopefully this will soon fix itself because I certainly do not know what to do.

I wanted to play along with BugBites Grillin' and Chillin' Bug Hop Part 2. It was so exciting being a team member on the first week of the bug hop with the focus on Grillin'. This week it is all about the Chillin'! I enjoyed all the projects presented by the talented designers. The requirement is to make a project with the chillin' theme and it must include one of the hidden critters that we found during the hop.
One of my ideas for chillin' is a huge slice of ice cold, sweet watermelon.....gotta love it!
Card is 5 x 6/12.
Cricut cartridges:
Simply Charmed - Watermelon page 46 cut 1 1/2"
Lacy Labels - White and green mats. Oops, I did not record the size.
A Child's Year - Phrase "Sweet" page 72 font feature cut 1 1/4 "
Walk in my Garden- Ladybug page 119 cut 1/2". Do you see my tiny critter!!
Cuttlebug:
Swiss dots folder- white mat.
Papers - Colorbok, Recollections
Lots of inking and the watermelon is pop-dotted on the mat.

Hope you enjoy! Try to think cool! We have been having 100 degree temperatures for several days and predicted 100 again today! I may have to buy a watermelon!

Fantabulous Cricut Guest Designer - #1 DAD

I am super excited to be Challenge Me Monday Guest Designer at Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Blog! It was such a surprise to be asked! FCCB is one of my favorite challenge blogs and I enjoy entering their challenges when I can. Thank you for the honor of being the guest designer and playing along with the Fantabulous Design Team!

The challenge is #1 Dad....make a project just for him. My dad is deceased and I wanted to make a card for my grandkids to give their dad. I struggle sometimes with masculine cards but I thought a baseball theme would be perfect for my family. Both younger grandsons play ball and their Dad is right there with them!

This card is a recessed window card which gives a shadow box look. A great tutorial can be found at SplitCoastStampers. The card starts with a 5 1/4" x 10 3/4 piece of cardstock. This is the size given in the video rather than the printable tutorial. The cardstock is scored at 5 1/4 and again at 5 1/2 which creates a little spine to help the card lay flat. Please view the video for complete instructions on making the window.
This photo shows the 1/4" recessed area.

Cricut Cartridges:
A Child's Year - Dad silhouette on page 40 cut 3" with black and again 3" blue paper using the shadow key.
Sports Mania - Play Ball on page 63 cut 1 1/4 in red. Using the layer feature and same size, the ball is cut in white.
Bat is on page 64 and is cut 2" with silver using the base cut, 2" with red using the layer cut and again 2 " using the blackout cut.
Plantin Schoolbook - Star on page 74 using the endcap feature. I keyed in #1 DAD. This was cut 3/4" in white and 3/4" in red using the endcap shadow key. To provide the Red stars on top, I cut red using the endcap shadow feature again--trimmed off the stars and glued to the white base. This is only my second time to use this feature and I love the way it turned out. I forget about some of the neat features on the cartridges.
Rest of the recipe:
Cuttlebug: Swiss Dots folder; lots of inking; Pop-dots; white gelly roll pen
For the inside of the card, I used Sports Mania, page 62. This is the background feature and is cut 4 1/2" in white. I hand cut the red mat at 4 3/4". Isn't that a great background! The cut-out is so cute! The kids can write a note and sign here. I covered the area that forms the recessed window with the baseball paper. I will add a photo of the kids on that area.

Now it is your turn to play along! Be sure to check out the design teams' projects and link your project for Dad at Fantabulous Cricut.
Again many thanks to FCCB for this opportunity! Hope you enjoy my project!
