Fall/Thanksgiving Card

Welcome to Glenda's Cards!

As Thanksgiving is fast approaching, I have been working on a Fall/Autumn/Thanks/Thanksgiving card. I like to make cards that can be used for several occasions. My card is made using one of Mary's pretty sketches at CARDZ TV. These sketches are so fun to work with and I can use scrap papers from previous projects. I have so much paper and I have tried not to purchase any new until I used more of what papers I have on hand. Do you know how hard that is--not to buy paper!!

The base of card is cut from Kraft Cardsdtock. Card measures 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" when folded. Patterned papers are K&Company. Solid cream paper is from Recollections

Cricut Cartridges:

My Sheri Crafts - Thanksgiving

Welcome to Glenda's Cards!

Today starts a new and fun challenge at My Sheri Crafts! Design team sister Sandy chose Ch. 194 Thanksgiving. She asks that we include any of the following on our card/project - Pilgrim, Indian, Cornucopia, Pumpkin, Turkey, or Pie. For my project, I made a Pull Out Card. You can find the tutorial at Mary's CARDZ TV. Base of card is a cream Recollections paper. Patterned and solid papers are left over from previous projects. This card style is fun to make and I like the finished look..also a good way to use lots of Cricut images! I was able to add 4 of the choices for the challenge on this card.

Cricut Cartridges:
Autumn Celebrations - Turkey is cut 1.75" wide.
Classroom- Oct-Nov. - Pilgrim is cut 2" wide. I believe this is my first time to cut a Cricut Pilgrim image.
Elegant Cakes - Wishes is cut 2" wide X .57" high. Actual phrase is Best Wishes, but I deleted the word Best and sized the word Wishes for my project.
Holiday Through the Years Iron On - Happy Thanksgiving is cut 4.47" wide x 3" high. This is used on backside of card.
Pumpkin Carvings - Pumpkin Stencil is cut 1.75" high.
Thanksgiving - Bountiful is cut 4.25" wide.
Thanksgiving Table Decor - Cornucopia is cut 2.50" wide.

View of folded card! Card measures 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" when folded.

Fall Decorated Plate

Welcome to Glenda's Cards!

Recently I have been playing with a few vinyl projects. I bought this pretty charger plate at Hobby Lobby and wanted to decorate it with vinyl for a Fall decorating project. Of course, I used my Cricut Explore to cut the images from vinyl.

Cricut Cartridges:
Simply Scarecrows - Happy Harvest is cut 6" wide x 4.07" high.
Thanksgiving - Pie Box - I ungrouped the image and cut only the pumpkin. It is cut at 1.75" wide x 1.60" high.
Designer's Calendar - Leaves are cut 1.50' wide, 1.25" wide and 1.00" wide.

Vinyl is from CraftEVinyl.

I am pleased with the finished project! My biggest problem was trying to get a good photo because the plate has such a glossy sheen to it!

Thankful Heart - Iris Folding Leaf

Welcome to Glenda's Cards!

Today I am sharing another Thanksgiving card. Just thought I had completed all my Thanksgiving cards! Since I love the Fall colors and the holiday, I just had to play with more pretty papers.
Card is 5" x 6 1/2" cream cardstock layered with a brown patterned paper from K&Company paper pad. I have not played with the Iris Folding technique in several years, so I wanted to try making a Iris folding leaf shape for my card. I used a free template found on Circle of Crafters.

Cricut Cartridges:
3D Floral Home Decor -  Using Cricut Design Space, I inserted a basic shape square and resized that to make a 4.75" wide x 6.26" high rectangle. This would be the foundation for the top layer of my card. Using Slice feature, the leaf was cut 4.42" wide x 3.88" high which made the opening in the Kraft paper. Then the fun began choosing papers and creating the Iris Folding leaf.
Thanksgiving -Thankful Heart is cut 3.50" wide.
Wild Card - Happy Thanksgiving is cut 4.25" wide. This is used inside the card.

Inside of Card!
For the finishing touch, I added a bow made with crinkle ribbon that I recently received from Karen at Little Scraps Pieces. I am really pleased with the results of the card! The Iris Folding technique uses strips of paper making this a good way to use some of my pretty scrap papers.

D.L.Art  - Thankful Thursday Ch. 168 Thanksgiving

Autumn Pumpkin

Welcome to Glenda's Cards!

Thanksgiving is just a few weeks away. Where did this year go? I have been playing with the Cricut Explore for another Thanksgiving card. There are so many neat features on the machine that I have been wanting to try. This card uses the slice/weld features which is one of those new techniques for me. Card is 5" x 6 1/2" cream cardstock. I used papers from a K&Company pad.

Cricut Cartridges:
Pumpkin Carvings - Pumpkin 49 is cut 3.5" high. After adding a basic circle shape on the pumpkin to the size that looked ok, I used the slice feature. This cut the circle out of the pumpkin. I added a black out of the original pumpkin from the brown paper.
Wildcard - The word Autumn was sized to fit inside the open area yet touching in a couple of places so it could be welded to the pumpkin.
Thanksgiving - Harvest Blessings was cut 4.22" wide x 1.62" high. I used only the word Blessings for this project.
Classroom Oct-Nov - Happy Thanksgiving is cut 4.50" wide. This is used inside the card.

For more interest to the pumpkin, I added Gelly Roll pen doodles and a pretty crinkle ribbon bow from Little Scrap Pieces which I won recently. Thank you so much Karen for the pretty ribbons! Turkey is pop-dotted on a piece of burlap.

Martha Stewart Swirling Lace edge punch is used on the brown paper.

Holiday Cakes - Happy Thanksgiving is cut 4" wide.
Gypsy Wanderings - Pumpkin Border. I did not record actual size- just cut it a bit smaller that the 6 1/2" width of card. This is used inside the card.

Fall/Turkey Card

Welcome to Glenda's Cards

Today I am sharing another Fall card. Because I enjoy the colors of the Fall season I like to play with pretty patterned Fall papers! Papers are scrap papers from a K & Company pad. Card measures 5" x 6  1/2" from a cream Recollections paper. All images are cut using the Cricut Explore machine.

Cricut Cartridges:
Celebrate with Flourish - Turkey is cut 2.50" wide.
Cricut Font and Basic Shapes - Cream colored square is cut 3" wide.
Designer Calendar - Leaves are each cut 1" wide.
Gypsy Wanderings - Patterned paper open square is cut 3.10" wide.
Splendid Soirees - Lace doily is cut 4.75" wide.
Thanksgiving - Bountiful is cut 3" wide; Harvest Blessings is cut 5" wide--used inside card.

Wow! I used six Cricut cartridges on this one! Cricut Design Space makes it easy to find the images! Although, sometimes it is hard to choose which pretty image I do want to use!!

Cuttlebug Swiss Dots is used on the cream mat. Banner for the Bountiful phrase is hand cut.

Life is a Beach Flamingo

Welcome to Glenda's Cards!

I found a little time this afternoon to play with my Cricut machine. Looking through some of my neglected cartridges, I chose this flamingo card feature found on Life is a Beach. Hibicus paper is from scrap stack.

Cricut Cartridges:
Life is a Beach - The card is cut from white Colorbok card stock at 5.5". The flamingo is cut out on the card. Front of card is lined with the hibicus paper. Using the individual flamingo image from the cartridge I sized it to cover the image cut on the card. Size was 1.49"w x 2.74"h. Leaf is cut 1.09"w x 1.3"h.
Thanksgiving -  Thank you is cut 2.58"w x 2.00"h from the white cardstock.

I added some inking and a small green rhinestone for the eye. Simple card but I think it makes a great thank you card for someone who likes a flamingo!

Challenge:
Die Cuttin Divas - Ch. 211 - Zoo Awareness- animal you would find at a zoo.

My Sheri Crafts - Ch. 120 - Stitch Time

Welcome to Glenda's Cards!

Hello blogging friends! It has been awhile since a post from me. My card is late, but I found a little time to participate in  My Sheri Crafts Challenge 120 - Stitch Time. Sue asked us to make a card or project that includes a sewing theme or stitching on the project.
My card measures 5" x 6 1/2" cut from DCWV paper. Other papers include Colorbok Kraft and K&Company papers.
Do you ever purchase a crafting item and then never get around to using it? Well, I do! I decided it was time for me to try out the Sew Easy stitch piercer tools that I bought some time ago from Michael's. I used the scallop piercer on the edge of the brown paper and the stitching is done with the Baker's twine blue lagoon. Luckily I found papers and colors that would work with the color of the twine. The paper actually has a stitched look. So the stitching was the beginning of my card! Maybe not perfect stitching, but ok for my first try!
Cricut Cartridges:
Thanksgiving - Pumpkin is cut at 1.75".
Freshly Picked - Page 49 - Farm Fresh sign is cut at 2.75".
Cuttlebug:
Polka Dots folder is used on the white mat. Divine Swirls is used on the pumpkin.
A little twine bow and a piece of burlap complete my card. I like the blues and greens with my pumpkin for a Fall look!

Be sure to visit My Sheri Crafts and see the pretty and inspiring projects by the design team and our guest designer. For more information on the projects, visit the individual blogs!
Now it is your turn to play along with us! You must include a sewing theme or sewing on your project. Several Ooh La La awards will be given and one person will be chosen to be our next guest designer. Please note there is a limit of 3 entries per person per challenge.

Challenges:
The Shabby Tea Room - Ch. 186 'Oh My Pumpkin'.. project inspired by the photo, include burlap and/or twine and a pumpkin(s).

Just an update---My husband is taking chemo treatments and we travel a lot back and forth to the hospital. I try to craft and blog as I can, but it has not been much lately. Thank you for your continued support of my blog and also for your prayers!

Now for my project!

I am so happy to be participating in my first Fantabulous Cricut Crawl!  Thanks for stopping by!
We pause to give thanks for our many blessings! One of my blessings is that my family lives close to me. At this time of Thanksgiving, I wanted to have a scrapbook page for a family photo that we will take. This gorgeous 12" x 12" paper is from DCWV The Four Season Stack which was bought on clearance after last Christmas. The page is pretty alone and I would not want to cut the page, but I thought some pretty Cricut cuts would add a great finishing touch!

Cricut cartridge is Thanksgiving Seasonal. This cartridge has pretty images and words. However, there are only two cuts for the images and only one cut for the words. I chose to use the phrase Count Your Blessings and cut it from Red cardstock at 2.25"  The gold photo mat is hand cut at  5 3/8" x 4 1/4"; patterned mat is 5 1/8 " x 4". The Cricut cut strip of Brown is cut 1.25" and the Orange leaf overlay is cut at same size. I layered this cut over the photo mat and will slip the photo into it.
I love the words written on the page!

Not what we say about our blessings,
but how we use them,
is the true measure of our thanksgiving.

Now I do have a little blog candy! How about a $20.00 Walmart gift card to one lucky follower! How does that sound! We do not have a Michael's or Hobby Lobby in my little hometown, but we do have Walmart Supercenter.
