My Sheri Crafts - Ch. 182 Accessorize

Welcome to Glenda's Cards!

It is time again for another fun challenge at My Sheri Crafts. This week design team sister Sandy chose Ch. 182 Accessorize. Sandy asks that we add pearls or bling, or both to our projects. I chose to make a card for one of my Red Hat friends. My card measures 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" cut from Red Recollections cardstock. The Red Hat Society paper has been in my stash for awhile.

Cricut Cartridges:
Forever Young - Hat is cut 3.75" wide from the red and light purple papers. The hat is pop-dotted on the card.
Anna's Lovely Layered Cards - Sentiment Happy Birthday Friend is written with the Cricut Midnight pen. Using Insert shape, I added a square which I changed to a 4.75" x 3.35" rectangle for the sentiment to be written on. This is used inside the card.

Recollections rhinestones, a purple flower, and purple sparkly trim was added for the bling! Of course a Red Hat Lady has to have the bling!

Inside the card.

Now it is your turn to play along with us! Please visit My Sheri Crafts to see all the pretty projects by the design team and our guest designer. For more information, visit our individual blogs.
We look forward to seeing your projects!

Paper Playtime - Challenge #55 - Make an Easel / Pedestal Card

Hi and thanks for visiting today! It is time for another fun challenge at Paper Playtime. This week Challenge # 55 is Make an Easel/Pedestal Card. If you have never tried an easel card and would like to learn how to make one, you are in for a treat! We are happy to have Mary of Cardz TV as our special guest designer today. Mary will share a great tutorial on making an easel card. Recently I found another great tutorial by Mary at CardzTV for making a Twisted Easel card. I enjoy making this style card and will be sharing a Twisted Easel card with you today.

Cricut cartridge: Forever Young for all the cuts.
Page 42 - Emblem feature for Model 19 Silhouette. Shift key used for the pink mat. Each cut is 3".
Page 73 - Flower 10 cut 1 1/2" using the main and layer features.
Page 43-  Emblem feature using shift for the pink mat. This is cut 3 1/4" and run through the Cuttlebug with the Swiss Dots embossing folder. I cut two of these and glued together for stability. The mat is pop-dotted on the base of the card. This will help to keep the front of the card in place.
Page 42 - "Fashion Queen" is cut 1 1/4' using the Word feature. Non-shift and shift key for the two colors.
Papers are from a Recollection 24 Page Pack from Michael's. I love this paper and thought it would be perfect for my Fashion Queen! Martha Stewart inking. Pearls and gemstone from my stash.

We would love for you to play along with us at Paper Playtime! We have a great prize for one winner this week. Our sponsor is K Andrews Design with Fashionable Friends Stamp Set!  How exciting is that! We look forward to seeing your easel / pedestal cards!

Cooking With Cricut Guest Designer

I am very excited to be guest designer for Cooking With Cricut today! I was very surprised to receive the invitation and of course, loving the challenge blog, I am happy to be here with you! Cooking With Cricut is one of the first challenge blogs that I began participating in after I started my blog. I always look forward to the weekly challenge and participate as I can. If you have not visited the blog, you are missing out on a lot of fun! The Chefs are always cooking up beautiful and inspiring projects! I want to thank everyone at Cooking With Cricut for the honor of being a guest designer today!

My fun with the Cricut began in 2009 whenever I purchased the Expression. As most of you know I am a member of the Red Hat Society. I started scrapbooking our fun meetings and travels. That soon led to cards and blogging!! What fun! I am always buying red and purple paper. I enjoy finding a cartridge that has great cuts for my Red Hat friends. I was so happy to find Forever Young - hats, dresses, gloves, shoes, purses---perfect! Today, I am sharing a Tri-Shutter Card featuring some of the pretty cuts from Forever Young!

The card starts with a 5 1/2" x 12" piece of red cardstock. There is a great tutorial on SplitCoastStampers for making a Tri Fold Shutter Card. This card style is perfect for using your beautiful designer papers. I am using purple cardstock and the designer paper is K&Company Red Hat Society which I have been hoarding for some time. I find it very hard to find reds and purples. I have used several Cuttlebug embossing folders to add a bit of dimension. Swiss dots is used on the purple background papers. Do you notice the little purple flower on the hat? It is embossed with Bloom Dots and the hat (page 63 cut 1.50") is embossed with Swiss Dots. The purple gingham mat is embossed with Divine Swirls. The mat cut is actually the flower 3 on page 66 using the shift key and cut at 4.25" The flowers are on page 69, cut 1.25" and layers are pop-dotted.

With the card opened, you can see more of my selected cuts. The Cricut has really been chirping this week! I have used ten different images on this card plus the layer and shadow features! The shoes tag is found on page 54 and cut 1". I thought it was so cute and I just had to make room for it. DMC Memory Thread is used for the hanger and the tag is pop-dotted on the mat. Ooh la la cut .75"-page 57 and glasses cut .50"-page 47.

I used Model 14 on page 37 cut 3 1/2", cutting first in ivory and again in red. I trimmed the red hat and red shoes off and glued on the model. Dress is embossed with the Cuttlebug Textile folder. Shoes cut 1.75"- page 54, purse cut 1.75"-page 56, gloves cut 1.50-page 45. Of course, Red Hatters love bling-must have rhinestones! Lots of inking, ribbon and rhinestones from my stash!

This is an easy card to make but it does take time cutting out the mats and layers. Above photo is the card laying flat. Hope you enjoy! Again, many thanks to Cooking With Cricut for the great opportunity!

To see more projects using cuts from Forever Young, you can view Cricut Forever Young under Labels -left side bar of my blog!

Paper Playtime Ch. # 48

Good morning everyone! It is time for another fun challenge at Paper Playtime. For Challenge # 48, we are making a Z-fold card with any themes and colors. This is my first time working with Z-fold card, but it is easy to make and is a fun card. The paper is cut at 4 1/4" x 11" and is scored at 2 3/4" and 5 1/2". When folded the size is 4 1/4" x 5 1/2". Have you noticed my theme and colors! Needing a birthday card for one of my friends, yes, I am using a Red Hat Society theme!

Cricut cartridges:
Forever Young - Hat page 57 cut 3"; "ooh la la" is the emblem feature on page 57 and is cut 2 3/4"; Shoes page 60 cut 1 1/2";  Sunglasses page 47 cut 1/2".
Home Accents - Corner1 is cut 2 inches. This key is the first image on the 3rd row.
Cuttlebug: Swiss Dots - Hat
Red and Purple papers are Recollection. White is Colorbok.  For bling, I added a red gemstone and feather on the hat and a button with Memory Thread in the corner. Birthday Wishes is one of the $1.00 stamps from Michael's. Red ink is Colorbok.

We are happy to have Peachy Keen Stamps as our sponsor. The prize for this week's challenge is Pk-470 Happy New Year Assortment! Now it is your turn to play with us! We want to see your Z-Fold Cards!

Hope you enjoy my card!

Flaunt It Fridays #12 Forever Young, Model 1, Silhouette

Thanks for stopping by today. It is time for another fun challenge at Flaunt It Fridays. We are using Cricut Forever Young and are flaunting Model 1 using the emblem (silhouette) feature. This cut is found on page 24 in the handbook. I cut the model silhouette image and the solid emblem at 3 inches.

There are so many pretty shaped card features on the cartridges that I seem to forget to use. For this card, I am using Cricut Sentimentals for the card base found on page 61. I just love the scroll edge. The scroll edge could also be used on the side opening of a card. I cut the card feature at 5 inches using some of my favorite double-sided K&Company designer paper.

To add a vintage look to the card, I made flowers. For the flowers, I used Plantin Schoolbook for the cut on page 77. I cut several flowers in varying sizes starting at 2 1/4 for the largest down to 1 inch. The paper is Life's Journey, another K&Company paper pack of double-sided papers. I chose a paper that had antique looking postcards on one side and the opposite side had newspaper print advertising. I used some of each of the paper patterns for the flowers. For the flowers, I used lots of inking, rolled edges under a bit, pop-dotted the layers and added pearl centers to finish the look. Lace and ribbon are from my stash!

Before you try this particular card feature on Sentimentals, I will mention that the lower edges of the scrolls do not line up evenly with the lower edge of the back side of the card. When the card is folded, the right hand side of the scrolls extends a bit past the edge of the card. You may notice a difference in the lower edges in my photo. I do not know if this is a problem on each Sentimental cartridge or just my particular cartridge. I think it adds more of a unique character to the card!!

Hope you enjoy my card! Now it is your turn to flaunt the model silhouette with us! Remember you can use a similar cut if you do not have the Forever Young cartridge. We look forward to seeing your pretty paper projects!

Birthday easel card

This is a birthday easel card made for a friend's daughter. Card size is 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 when closed. Background paper is embossed with the Cuttlebug Textile folder. The cuts are from Cricut Forever Young cartridge. The scallop oval is found on page 26 and is cut 3 1/4 inches. It was embossed with the Cuttlebug Swiss Dots folder and pop dotted on the background paper. I cut the hat at 1 1/2 inches--this is found on page 63.  I used two shades of purple for the hat, but the photo does not show that well.

A portion of the Cuttlebug Happy Birthday folder is used for the sentiment and pop-dotted on the card. This provides a place for the front of the card to stand. I used lots of Martha Stewart purple inking and some gemstones from my treasure chest. Hope she will enjoy this card!

Thanks for visiting today! Your comments are always appreciated!

Red Hat Snowlady Purse

I had so much fun making this purse using a Red Hat Society theme for one of my friends. The purse is cut from Forever Young at 5 inches. Recently my friend Sharon sent me a Red Hat purse that she made and filled it with yummy cookies. I just love it and thought my Red Hat friends would like a purse too, maybe filled with a few trinkets or candy!!
The challenge at Fantabulous Cricut is Gifts Galore--make a handmade gift or gift package. This will be my entry for the challenge!
I wanted to also participate at the new Flaunt it Fridays 1st challenge which is the snowman cut on page 29 of Winter Frolic. Not having that cartridge I used Winter Woodland for my snowlady- page 47, cut 3 inches. Of course a Red Hatter wears red and purple and loves bling, so I used these colors for her hat and scarf and covered the snowlady with diamond Stickles. She really sparkles!
I just love it when I can participate in several challenges with my project. This week at Paper Playtime, the challenge is Snowflakes. Oh! I do need snowflakes for my snowlady!! The two large snowflakes are cut from Winter Woodland page 35, one is cut 1 1/2 and the smaller one is 1 1/4 inches. To add more snowflakes, I used the reverse cut from a Martha Stewart Snowflake edge punch. I added the stickles to the snowflakes and added a couple of red gemstones. To finish the purse, I wrapped shiny red tinsel around the handles and added the words "ooh la la" which were cut from Forever Young at 1/2 inch. Now can a Red Hat Lady resist this purse!!

Be sure to visit the great blogs for inspiration --you still have time to enter your project.

Thanks for your visit and I appreciate your comments.

My Pink Card

Using the color pink and the theme, "strength, love, hope, and faith", my card is made in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month. This is a worthy cause as we are reminded to do self exams and have those mammograms. Prayers are with our love ones who are going through this battle now.

Wanting to try something different, I used a Martha Stewart Edge and Corner punch to make a pretty edge shape card. There is a great tutorial, Punch Around the Page on SplitCoastStampers.

My card started with a 5X10 inch size of white Colorbok cardstock. This is my first card using the punches and I am pleased with the results. I will have to try this again!

Cricut cartridges:
Forever Young - Lady silhouette - emblem key cut at 2 1/2 inch in white and using shift for the pink background
Home Decor -  Hope cut 1 1/4 in pink and shadow cut in white.
Cuttlebug Folders: Victoria and Textile
Martha Stewart - Topiary Edge and Corner Punch, Flower cut with Pop-up water lily punch, inks
Paper: Colorbok and The Paper Studio
Gemstone and ribbon from the treasure chest

I am honored to participate in several challenges this week sharing projects that are inspired by Breast Cancer Awareness. The design teams have beautiful work to inspire us. If you have time, make a card and give it to someone who may be going through this disease now. My card will be going to a dear sweet lady.

"D-Lish" Apples

Autumn is here!

This card is made using Sketch 18- An Apple a Day at Jitterbuggin'. We are challenged to follow the sketch, use red / green / yellow, add something black, include an apple, and of course, use a cricut cut.
Because of my limited papers in these colors, this proved to be a challenge. But slowly, the yellow came together and I am pleased with the outcome of the card.
Cricut cartridges: WIMG - Wheelbarrow and Sign
ACY -    Apples and Scallop background
                           PDDU -  Hat
FY     -   Gloves and sentiment "d-lish"
(Hmm-- using FY on a Harvest theme!!)
Fiskars scallop paper edgers, Paper Studio- Spare Part for the yellow brad on sign, Recollections- Autumn Day ribbon-saying is Gratitude, Recollection gem on hat. Hat is pop-dotted off the sign.
Paper- Colorbok -white and black. Red, green and plaid are Christmas papers and yellow is unknown.

At Fantabulous Cricut, the challenge this week is In My Garden "Harvest Time". View the pretty projects by the talented design team for inspiration.

Also, I will enter this card at My Sheri Crafts. Challenge #23 is Autumn. Love the fall theme! I think apple gathering will fit the challenge. The talented DT have pretty projects for inspiration!

Enjoy and thanks for looking!
