Love Struck Valentine

This card is larger than I normally make but the 5x7 inch size works good for the intricate heart with the couple cut from the Love Struck 2010 cartridge. There are many pretty hearts on Love Struck and in using the cartridge, I have found that if you use too small a cut size, the image will not be a good cut. The heart and blackout are cut 3 3/4 inches. I tried a couple new techniques on this card. The white mat is cut with the Martha Stewart Punch Around the Page Swirling Lace. Then, I embossed it with the Cuttlebug Kassie's Brocade folder. I love the look of the white mat!
This is the first time for me is use the Cricut Color Ink Markers. I have had this set for quite some time. It was really easy following the directions included in the package. When the marker is in the Cricut, the cut button will make the machine draw rather than cut. The important thing to remember is after the image is drawn, do not unload paper. You press Load Paper and the mat and paper return to the original position. Then you remove the Cricut Color and replace the blade housing. After choosing cut, the image will now be cut. I think the red marker accents the word Valentine nicely. I will try to use the markers more!! The word Valentine is also cut from Love Struck and is cut at 1 inch.
I added pearl gemstones to the heart and completed the look with a pink shimmer ribbon. Martha Stewart inking and the heart is pop-dotted on the mat! The designer paper is K&Company Kelly Panacci. White textured paper is Colorbok.

Challenges:
Frosted Designs -- All about Valentine's Day- Use Pink, Red and White only

Enjoy!

"You Say It's Your Birthday" Blog Hop

Yes! It is your birthday! Happy Birthday Ashley!! Wishing you a wonderful day!!

Hi everyone and thanks for joining me today for the "You Say It's Your Birthday" Blog Hop! If you arrived at my blog from talented Elsa of Cricutlvr, then you are in the right place. If not, and you would like to start at the beginning, please click here.

Many thanks to my talented friend, Erika, of Cricut Love for inviting me to participate in this special event. Erika has planned the hop to celebrate her daughter Ashley's birthday. Isn't this so sweet and exciting! The theme of the hop is quite exciting too! Erika's love for music by the Beatles has been instilled into her children. For this hop, Erika asked each of us to make a project based on a song by the Beatles!  Whoo hoo! I love the Beatles! I was a teenager when the Beatles made their first appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show! That has been a few years ago! lol!
I had a hard time choosing between so many great songs. I decided to use the song "Love Me Do".

The card is 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 white cardstock. I cut a piece of the pretty K&Company paper at 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 and layered it on the card. For the white mat, I cut a piece of white textured cardstock 5 1/4 x 4 inches and run it through the Cuttlebug using the Allergo folder. I love how the music notes look on the paper! All my Cricut cuts are from Cricut cartridge Sweethearts. The Love stamp is found on page 49 and is cut at 3 inches. The scallop heart is on page 72 and is cut at 2 1/4 inches. The small red heart is the heart that is cut out of the stamp. For the words, I cut Marry Me which is on page 46 using the shadow cut at 1 1/2 inch. I discarded the Marry for this project. I Do is on page 60 and was cut using the shadow cut at 1/2 inch. Just used the word Do on my project. Now I have the words of my song---Love Me Do!! Used lots of Martha Stewart inking and some foam dots to add dimension.

Ok, for a little blog candy! I will be giving away this pretty Martha Stewart set of leaf and branch clear stamps to one of my followers. Paper Playtime-- Cupids or Hearts

Hi everyone! Glad you stopped by today. Are you ready for another fun challenge at Paper Playtime? Our challenge this week is to use Cupids or Hearts on your project. Recently I enjoyed making a different card style and I am using this style on my card today. This is called a Criss-Cross card. A great tutorial can be found at Split Coast Stampers. Instructions given are to use two 4 1/4x11 inches pieces of cardstock for the base of the card. For the front of the card, given instructions are to use a piece of 4x5 inches patterned paper. I chose to cut the patterned paper at 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 inches so it will fit the entire front of card, rather than being smaller on each side. For complete scoring and cutting information, please see the tutorial.
I just love this pretty paper from K&Company and thought it would be perfect for this card. For my Cricut cuts, I used Sweethearts cartridge. The little Cupid is found on page 33 and is cut 3 1/2 inches. I run it through the Cuttlebug Swiss Dots for a little dimension.

The insert of the card is cut 3 3/4 x 5 1/4 inches..I used a white textured cardstock for the paper. The pink dotted paper is cut 3 1/2 x 5 and layered on the white mat. The hearts are also from the Sweethearts cartridge page 72 and cut at 2 3/4 inches. I used several patterned papers to complete the heart.
I cut two strips of the white textured paper so I could use the Martha Stewart Lace Heart edge punch on one side of each of the criss cross sections.  Each strip was trimmed to fit the longer side and then glued on top of the designer paper. A punched strip was also glued between the pieces of the insert card.
Cupid is pop-dotted and I used lots of Martha Stewart inking!!
Making this card was so much fun and I am loving the results! Hope you enjoy my card!

We are happy to have Peachy Keen Stamps as our sponsor this week. Now it is your turn to play along with us! Please submit your new paper project and join the fun!
