Love Struck Valentine

This card is larger than I normally make but the 5x7 inch size works good for the intricate heart with the couple cut from the Love Struck 2010 cartridge. There are many pretty hearts on Love Struck and in using the cartridge, I have found that if you use too small a cut size, the image will not be a good cut. The heart and blackout are cut 3 3/4 inches. I tried a couple new techniques on this card. The white mat is cut with the Martha Stewart Punch Around the Page Swirling Lace. Then, I embossed it with the Cuttlebug Kassie's Brocade folder. I love the look of the white mat!
This is the first time for me is use the Cricut Color Ink Markers. I have had this set for quite some time. It was really easy following the directions included in the package. When the marker is in the Cricut, the cut button will make the machine draw rather than cut. The important thing to remember is after the image is drawn, do not unload paper. You press Load Paper and the mat and paper return to the original position. Then you remove the Cricut Color and replace the blade housing. After choosing cut, the image will now be cut. I think the red marker accents the word Valentine nicely. I will try to use the markers more!! The word Valentine is also cut from Love Struck and is cut at 1 inch.
I added pearl gemstones to the heart and completed the look with a pink shimmer ribbon. Martha Stewart inking and the heart is pop-dotted on the mat! The designer paper is K&Company Kelly Panacci. White textured paper is Colorbok.

  1. What a pretty card Glenda! I'm lovin the bigger card bases, you can get more/bigger cuts on them, lol! Very nice as always, love the pearls, nice touch! I've had some of those markers for quite awhile too and never used them, I may have to see if I can find them and try it, your explanation sounds pretty easy, Thanks for the heads up!

  9. Glenda,

Your card is gorgeous!!! :) I love that Martha Stewart punch! That's exciting that you used the pens in the Cricut. I'm just wondering: if you cut at the same size as you drew, how does so much of the color show up? Or is there a trick to that? Thanks for the tip not to unload the paper! I have some pens and have yet to use them.

    Thanks for sharing!
