My Sheri Crafts -- Guest Designer

Thanks for stopping by today! I am so excited and yet a bit nervous!! Sheri asked me to be the guest designer at her challenge blog My Sheri Crafts this week. This is the first time for me to be a guest designer. Thank you so much Sheri for giving me this special opportunity!!
When Sheri told me this week's challenge theme was "All About Boys", I really got nervous!! What! No pink, lace, flowers, and all those things I love!! Ok, so it is Boys! I thought of my young grandsons and would you believe the first thing that came to my mind was a mud puddle!! Because I have limited Cricut cuts for boy/masculine themes and no mud puddles, I chose one of my favorite cartridges---A Child's Year!

It is the simple pleasures that often become our fondest memories!
The card is 5 x 6 1/2 white cardstock which is layered with a 5 x 6 1/2 piece of pretty stripe designer paper from Paper Pizazz Floral Backgrounds paper pad. Yes, I did say Floral! The boy with the dog is found on page 62 of Cricut A Child's Year cartridge..this is the shift key. It is cut at 3 1/2 inches. I also cut the shadow feature at the same size. The background mat is the card feature using the shift key and is cut at 5 1/2 inches from Brazzill paper. For dimension, I used pop-dots to mount the boy/dog image on the mat. Lot of inking! The phrase "Simple Pleasures" is from Country Life page 60 and is cut at 1 1/2 inches. I love that phrase and think it works well with A Child Year's cuts. The phrase is the only cut that is not from A Child's Year!

For the inside of the card, I used the boy/dog image on page 63. This was cut at 2 1/2 inches. I will be needing a birthday card, so I chose to use the phrase "Happy Birthday" found on page 71 of ACY. It was cut 2 inches.

I thought the little dog gift tag would be a nice addition to my gift. This is the tag feature found on page 62 and cut at 2 inches. (Notice the little dog in left hand corner on the inside of the card---it it the cut out piece from the tag.) The word "to" is found on page 74 and the word "from" is found on page 75. Each word was cut at 1/2 inch. For the tag tie, I used some blue fibers that was in a blog candy package from a sweet blogger friend! I just love it!

I hope you enjoy my "All About Boys" project!
