Valentine Sweets Store

Welcome to Glenda's Cards!
Surprise! I have a project to share with you today that is not a card!
I recently bought the Cricut Sweet Tooth Boxes cartridge and immediately knew which would be my first project to try. I had so much fun being a paper carpenter and I am really pleased with my results. Designer double-sided patterned papers are from K&Company Kelly Panacci Valentine Pad that was bought last Valentine. For the house, I chose the pretty little hearts paper. I was working with the Cricut Craft Room and No 4 Store on page 26. I noticed the handbook shows the store image is the third cut on top line, but it is marked incorrectly. The store is actually the fourth key on the keypad. Cuts were at 10".
To make the store you must cut the main image twice and then there are four layer cuts which have several different pieces. On one layer cut, I used the hide contour feature and separated the images so I could use different papers for some of the images.

I used the Cuttlebug Distressed Stripes folder on the white door facing.  Do you like the pink polka dot door!  The heart on the door is hand cut from one of the pieces of designer paper.
Here is a view of the back of the store building. I love the little window. I run the white paper through the Distressed Stripes folder also. The flower pot and flower cuts are on one of the layer cuts. I added some Recollections Floral Embellishments flowers. On some of the flowers, I added two layers of flowers, a yellow button and some pop-dots for dimension.
This is a side view of the little store. I thought the pretty striped paper would be good for the roof - actually reminds me of a storefront awning!  The Sweets signpost was a little taller than I wanted--it went up in the awning so I cut some of pole off. For an extra spash of Valentine look, I added a ribbon bow from ribbon that was in my stash!
I cut the word Sweets twice and placed the word on each side of the sign. A piece of Cricut cartridge packaging was cut and glued inside the windows.
Hope you enjoy my little house of love! I will  place some candy in it and use it for a Valentine party  decoration!

Fantabulous Cricut - Ch. 96 3" x 3" Valentiney Cards

Welcome to Glenda's Cards! It is Monday again and that means it is time for another fun challenge at Fantabulous Cricut. This week our challenge is all about 3" x 3" Valentiney cards. Yes, that means a tiney card. I cut my card from red cardstock at 3" x 6" and when folded in half, it measures 3" x 3". This is the first time that I have made such a small card, but I am pleased with the look.
We are happy to have Emma at My Creative Time as our sponsor this week. She has so generously let some of the designers use some of her stamps for today's projects. Thank you Emma for your kindness and the opportunity! My stamp set is Classmate Valentines. I chose the cute Happy Valentine's Day Teacher stamp and the apple stamp to go with it.
Cricut cartridges:
Cricut Classroon Basics - The white scallop circle was cut at 1/2" and the red scallop circle was cut at 1.681"w x 1.653"h.  Ink was Color Box Cranberry.
Create A Critter - Page 25 - Apple cut at 2" height. It is pop dotted on the card.
Cuttlebug:
Heart Blocks folder was used on the white mat. Just wanted to add a bit more Valentiney look!
Other supplies include Paper Studio Ribbon Trends for the gingham ribbon.

On the inside of the card, I used the To, From, and Apple from the stamp set. I left room for my youngest grandson who is in the first grade to print the names.

Be sure to visit FCCB to see all the pretty projects by the design team. We appreciate your comments and visits to our blogs! Now it is your turn to play along with us. Remember to follow the theme - make a 3" x 3" Valentine card and as always you must include a Cricut cut. We look forward to seeing your projects. You have until midnight Sunday Feb. 5th to enter your card.

Challenges:

My Sheri Crafts Ch. 77 New Things!

Welcome to Glenda's Cards!

It is time for another fun challenge at My Sheri Crafts! For Challenge 77, design team member Michelle chose the theme "New Things"! We are asked to include new crafting items that we may have received on our project or maybe use a new technique. I enjoyed working with a new card style technique. When you look at the front of the card, it does resemble the Triangle Trifold. However, when it is opened, you see that it is a Six-Fold Card. The inspiring tutorial can be found at SplitCoastStampers.

The base of the card is made from a 8"x 12" piece of white cardstock. Please view the tutorial to see the scoring, cutting, and folding instructions. My designer papers are from K&Company Kelly Panacci Valentine that was bought last year. In fact, most of the papers are left over scraps from last year's Valentine projects.

Cricut Cartridges:
Ribbons and Rosettes - This is one of my newest cartridges and only the second time for me to use it. I love all the beautiful rosette and border cuts that are available. The Heart rosette is on page 35. It was cut at 1.50" in the Cricut Craft Room and cut 6 times.
Elegant Edges - Page 50 -Circle 2 was cut 3.528" x 3.50" from white cardstock. I used this cut for the background mat for the rosette. Same cut using pattened paper for the mat under the word Love.
Sweethearts - Page 34 - Love is cut 1.75", Page 73- Heart flowers (6 petals) and shadow cut 1.25". I used only one of the flowers cut using the shift key for the flower at top of card. It is cut at 1.75".

Other supplies are pink inking, Stickles Diamond on the flower centers, pink heart gemstone, and pop dots for the rosette. Happy Valentine's Day is one of the dollar wooden stamps from Michael's.

After my card was finished, I realized the triangles on the card front were in different direction than those shown on the tutorial. Hmm, I turned my paper the wrong way! Well, guess I added my own little twist because it works fine for me! Because of the thickness of the layers, I chose to do a band to go around the card rather than a ribbon.

Hope you enjoy my project trying to learn a new card technique.
Now it is your turn to play with us at My Sheri Crafts. Be sure to visit the designers to see all the great projects they have created for the challenge. We look forward to seeing your projects with new items or maybe a new technique. Remember one person will be selected to be the next guest designer and several Ooh La La awards are given!

Nuts About You

Welcome to Glenda's Cards!

I have been playing with the Cricut "Just Because" Cards cartridge. It is one of those cartridges that I just had to buy. I have had it for several months and would you believe today is my first time to use it. I was working in the Cricut Craft Room and decided to try one of the card features. For some reason I never could hide the fold marks for the card. I do like the scalloped edges on the card!
Page 63 - Card feature was cut 9" which makes a 4" x 9" folded card. Squirrel and layers are on the same page. I used the stencil features for the "nuts about you" sentiment which was cut 1.75".
Page 38 - Background mat was cut 3.444" x 5.306".
Cuttlebug:
Houndstooth Folder - Squirrel
Distressed Stripes Folder- Background mat
Card was cut from Kraft cardstock and other papers are from my stash. Lots of inking and a wiggle eye for the squirrel.
I think the card will be great for a masculine Valentine card! What do you think?

Challenge:
Die Cuttin' Divas - Ch. 48 - Squirrels - Use a squirrel on your project!
Little Scrap Pieces - Anything Goes
