My Sheri Crafts Ch. 82 - MSC Turns Two!

Welcome to Glenda's Cards!

Thanks for stopping by today! We have an exciting challenge for you at My Sheri Crafts. We are celebrating a birthday! Yes! My Sheri Crafts Turns 2! Happy Birthday! Time for fun and celebrating! Let's do fun birthday projects for toddlers or kids under 5. We want to see bright colors and fun projects--no elegant cards.  Sheri created a cute birthday button for the party! We would love for you to share it on your blog!
When I was thinking of what to do for this challenge, my thoughts turned to the fun Cricut Birthday Bash cartridge! This cartridge has a card feature with some great card shapes. I have not used this cartridge very often and I enjoyed playing with it for this card.

Using the Cricut Craft Room and the card feature on page 36, the card is cut at 5.25" from red cardstock. The word Birthday is part of the cut image. Finished size when folded is 5 1/2" width x 5 1/4" height. Card feature on shift gives the layer with the word bash. The polka dot paper is from a birthday kit. I layered a scrap of green glitter paper under the word opening.

The little monkey is the main image on page 36 and is cut at 2.875" x 2.75". He seems to be peeping from under the blindfold! Such  a cute cut! For a festive look, I decided to add a little hat. The hat is found on page 21 and is cut at 1 1/2". To add more fun to the monkey, it is attached to an Action Wobble.
Other supplies include inking and a white Gelly Roll pen used on the letters.

Now it is your turn to play along with us at My Sheri Crafts. Stop by the blog and see all the fun and festive projects that have been created by the talented design team and our guest designer Jessica at Cricut after Dark. We appreciate your comments and encourage you to become a follower if you are not already.  Remember several Ooh la la awards are given and one person will be chosen to be the next guest designer!

Hope you enjoy my fun and bright card! Happy Birthday My Sheri Crafts!

Music Card

Welcome to Glenda's Cards!

This fun card is made for a few challenges requiring a music theme. It is inspired by the song "Spring Fever" by Elvis. The first few lines starts with "A little bird, he told me so. He said come on, get on the go. Open your eyes, the sky is full of butterflies."
I got busy with the Cricut and some fun cuts.
Card is 5"x 6 1/2" white cardstock. Patterned paper is The Paper Studio Girls Live To Rock. Solid papers are from my stash.
Cricut Cartridges:
April Showers - Spring fever is cut 1.25". Butterflies are .375"
Groovy Times - I have not played with this cartridge in awhile but when I saw the dance couple, my thoughts turned to maybe a guy with a guitar. The dance couple is on page 24.  I used hide contour in Cricut Craft Room to eliminate the girl. The guy is cut 4".
Also on page 24, the silhouette feature on shift was cut for the white mat at 4.125".
Page 53 - Guitar is cut using Layer 1 and Layer 2 at 2".

Cuttlebug:  Allergo Folder is used on the white mat.
Other supplies: Inking and pop-dots for the guy and guitar.

Challenges:
Die Cuttin' Divas - Ch. 57 Music
Cooking With Cricut - Ch. 78 Spring Song Inspired Challenge

Hope you enjoy this Spring song inspired card! I used several music features while trying to keep the Spring theme with some Spring colors. I know it is a bit different but it was fun to make!

My Sheri Crafts - Ch. 81 Easter - Spring's Gorgeous Pastels

Welcome to Glenda's Cards! Thank you for stopping by today!

It is time for another fun challenge at My Sheri Crafts! Before I tell you about the challenge, I want to welcome Raquel back to the Design Team. You have seen her lovely creations as a past member of the design team but she had to step down for awhile. You may know her as RAQ from Cricut MessageBoard weekly RAQ Challenges. We are so happy Raquel is back and sharing her talent with us!

Now to our challenge this week--Challenge 81 is Easter -Create a card/project using Spring's gorgeous pastels! I decided to try a Shadow Box Card which is another card style marked off my "To Do" list. You can find a great tutorial at Split Coast Stampers for this card style. Just click the link I provided and it will take you to the tutorial.

The double-sided designer patterned papers are from K&Company Watercolor Bouquet. I just love the pretty pinks, greens, and yellows! I started with 2 different patterned papers that were cut at 6 1/2" x 5", rather than the smaller size as stated in the tutorial. Short ends of the papers are scored at 1/2" and 1". After folding, the ends are secured with red Tacky Tape.
For the oval opening in the paper, I used the Creative Memories Oval set.

Cricut Cartridges:  Using Cricut Craft Room.
Easter 2010 - Egg and shadow are cut 3". Happy Easter and shadow are cut at 1".
Other supplies:
Egg is pop-dotted. Flower is Recollections Mulberry Paper Flowers. Ribbon and pearls from my stash.

Be sure to visit My Sheri Crafts and see all the gorgeous colors of Spring projects that the Design Team and Guest Designer have created for you. For more details on the projects, please visit each blog and leave a little love! We enjoy reading your comments! Now we look forward to seeing your lovely projects!
Remember to follow the challenge! One lucky person will be chosen to be our next guest designer and several Ooh La La awards are presented.

Hope you enjoy this card and maybe are inspired to try this card style if you have not done so. I know that I will be making more Shadow Box cards!

St. Patrick's Day Iris Folding

Welcome to Glenda's Cards! Thanks for stopping by today!

I am sharing another St. Patrick's Day card inspired by a few challenges! When I saw the color challenge and bonus technique of using an Iris Fold at Die Cuttin' Divas, I got busy! I have worked with Iris Folding before and really enjoy using the technique and seeing the results. However that was before my blog was started so I do not have a photo.

Cricut Cartridge: I worked in Cricut Craft Room.
A Child's Year - Page 31 Card Feature. Card is cut 5.986"width x 9.278"h. I like the shaped edges of the card plus the effect of the cut out shamrocks. Needing a cut out shape to do the Iris Folding, I chose the hat (Icon Feature) on page 31 also. Using CCR and size 2.5", I used the hide contour feature to hide the hat band and shamrock. Then, I placed the hat in the location on the card so the hat opening would be cut out of the card by the Cricut. This is a first for me and I am really pleased with the results!
For the Iris Folding, I used a triangle shape template that is available at Circle of Crafters. The triangle and square templates have been donated to the public domain. Instructions are given to make your own patterns from scratch. Other patterns can be found at this site. Remember they are copyright protected.

Cutterbug: Swiss Dots on the black hat band.

Other supplies:
Papers: White Colorbok cardstock for the cardbase. Green glitter paper is from a Birthday pack. I thought this would be pretty for the eye of the Iris and the paper showing under the shamrocks. The St. Patrick's Day papers were given to me by a friend.
Sew Easy Fancy Floss (Baker's Twine lemonade). This is my first time to play with this product. I like this on cards, but I had trouble with the twine untwisting. The yellow buttons are from my stash.
Martha Stewart inking.

Challenges:
DieCuttin' Divas - #56 Colors- Use Green, Yellow, Black and White. Bonus-Iris Folding
Cooking With Cricut - #77 St. Pat's and Rainbows
Little Scrap Pieces - Luck of the Irish
Wacky Wednesday - More Than Favors - Ch. 67 St. Patrick's Day (ends 3-27)
Whimsical Designs  - #45 Going Green - Use Green (ends 3-21)
Scrapalicious - A Cut Above  (Some sort of special cut)

Close -up view of the hat using three patterned papers for the folding and the glitter paper for the Iris!

Hope you enjoy my card!
