My Sheri Crafts - Ch. 120 - Stitch Time

Welcome to Glenda's Cards!

Hello blogging friends! It has been awhile since a post from me. My card is late, but I found a little time to participate in  My Sheri Crafts Challenge 120 - Stitch Time. Sue asked us to make a card or project that includes a sewing theme or stitching on the project.
My card measures 5" x 6 1/2" cut from DCWV paper. Other papers include Colorbok Kraft and K&Company papers.
Do you ever purchase a crafting item and then never get around to using it? Well, I do! I decided it was time for me to try out the Sew Easy stitch piercer tools that I bought some time ago from Michael's. I used the scallop piercer on the edge of the brown paper and the stitching is done with the Baker's twine blue lagoon. Luckily I found papers and colors that would work with the color of the twine. The paper actually has a stitched look. So the stitching was the beginning of my card! Maybe not perfect stitching, but ok for my first try!
Cricut Cartridges:
Thanksgiving - Pumpkin is cut at 1.75".
Freshly Picked - Page 49 - Farm Fresh sign is cut at 2.75".
Cuttlebug:
Polka Dots folder is used on the white mat. Divine Swirls is used on the pumpkin.
A little twine bow and a piece of burlap complete my card. I like the blues and greens with my pumpkin for a Fall look!

Be sure to visit My Sheri Crafts and see the pretty and inspiring projects by the design team and our guest designer. For more information on the projects, visit the individual blogs!
Now it is your turn to play along with us! You must include a sewing theme or sewing on your project. Several Ooh La La awards will be given and one person will be chosen to be our next guest designer. Please note there is a limit of 3 entries per person per challenge.

Challenges:
The Shabby Tea Room - Ch. 186 'Oh My Pumpkin'.. project inspired by the photo, include burlap and/or twine and a pumpkin(s).

Just an update---My husband is taking chemo treatments and we travel a lot back and forth to the hospital. I try to craft and blog as I can, but it has not been much lately. Thank you for your continued support of my blog and also for your prayers!

Center Step Card and Die D-Lites

Welcome to Glenda's Cards!

I have been playing with some new crafting toys and a new card style. This is my first center step card! A great tutorial can be found at Splitcoaststampers for the center step card by clicking here. This is a fun card style and I do like the results! I am wondering why I have not made one of these cards before now!!
Recently I purchased the Spellbinders Die-D-Lites Window One and Wrought Iron (fence) at a great price. I was excited about playing with the new dies! This is the results!
The card measures 5 1/2" x 5 1/2" and is cut from white cardstock. Papers are scrap papers from previous projects from the K&Company Watercolor Bouquet. You probably have seen some of the papers. I must buy another one of these paper pads-- do not want to run out of these beauties!
Spellbinders Nestabilities Label Four is used to cut the white mat. It was embossed with Paper Studio Bricks embossing folder. Hope you can see the blue, green, and purple inks that I used on the mat. I thought that was a good background for my purple window! A piece of vellum is used under the window opening. Just had to add a little lace curtain to catch your eye!

I had some leftover flowers cuts from previous projects using the Cricut Mother's Day Bouquet cartridge. The two different papers are used on the flower which is layered on a lace rosette. Strands of pink pearls and a single flower from a strip of lace flowers complete the flower. The small crinkled ribbon bow accents the flower. Greenery is cut using the Martha Stewart Branch punch. Also, pink pearls add interest to the top of the card.

When I saw the pretty photo inspiration at The Shabby Tea Room, I thought my pretty papers may work. Challenge 182 is Sweet Summertime - Use the pretty colors from photo and a Summertime theme. When I think of Summer, I am reminded of all the gorgeous colors and flowers blooming everywhere! Now if I can get me one of those windows!!

Tea Time - A Child's Year Teapot

For My Sheri Crafts design team project, please click here or scroll down!

Welcome to Glenda's Cards!

A couple of my other crafting loves include cross-stitch and ribbon embroidery! My walls are loaded down with many of my framed works. I love how little X's can make such a beautiful picture! Now it seems paper crafting keeps me busy! Whenever I saw the lovely photo inspiration at The Shabby Tea Room, my eyes were naturally drawn into the gorgeous cross stitch piece. I did not have time to cross-stitch a little bread cover so I chose to do a small ribbon embroidery spider web rose on the linen fabric. I think the small bread cloth works good with my tea pot theme.

Card measures 6 1/2" x 5". Papers are some of my favorite K&Company papers.
Cuttlebug Swiss Dots is used on the blue lid of the tea pot.
Just Rite Stamps - Times New Roman Font 15 pt. is used for TEA TIME.
Martha Stewart Ribbon Loop edge is used on the pink mat. Another piece of pretty lace is used on top of the mat.
Cricut Cartridges:
A Child's Year -  P. 67 Tag feature.. The teapot is actually a card itself and is pop-dotted on the main card. Perfect way to add an additional sentiment.
Mother's Day Bouquet - Flower is leftover cuts from a previous project. I added the flower to a gathered lace rosette for the center of the tea pot.

Pearls, lace, and crinkle ribbon are from my stash. I was hesitant about the placement of the tea pot on the card, but I am pleased with the tilted look!

My Sheri Crafts - Ch. 118 Fall Colors

Welcome to Glenda's Cards!

Today we have a fun and inspiring challenge for you at My Sheri Crafts! Challenge 118 is Fall Colors! Marge asked us to create a card or project using Fall Colors - shades of browns, oranges, red, yellows. Temperatures in my area are definitely not Fall yet! Harvest is underway for the farmers. I am looking forward to all the pretty colors of Fall.
For my project, I used my Cricut to make a Fall wreath using a 12 inch grapevine wreath.
Cricut Cartridges:
Mother's Day Bouquet - Two styles of flowers are cut from pretty K&Company SW Meadow papers. The yellow Cricut flowers are attached with brads to a handmade rosette. I wrapped red buttons with burlap and hot glued it in the centers of the patterned flowers. The red button seemed too bright and needed toning down. I do like the look!

Autumn Celebrations - This cartridge was available free in the Cricut Craft Room so I tried a few of the images. The phrase Fall is cut 3". The pumpkins are cut at 2" and 1.5". Leaves are also from the cartridge.
Cuttlebug Swiss Dots folder is used on the acorn.

A burlap ribbon completes my Fall wreath and now it is ready for the door!

Visit My Sheri Crafts to see the pretty projects by the design team and our guest designer. For more information, please visit our blogs. Don't forget to leave us a little blog love!

We look forward to seeing your creative projects using Fall colors. Several Ooh la la awards will be given and one person will be chosen to be our next guest designer!

Formal Occasion Dress

Welcome to Glenda's Cards!

It has been awhile since I have posted, but I found a little time to work on a shabby chic card. Inspired by the photo inspiration challenge at The Shabby Tea Room, this is the results.
Card is 5" x 6 1/2" using some pretty K&Company papers and other papers from my scrap stash.

Cricut Cartridge is Formal Occasion. The dress is on page 27. I trimmed some pretty areas off a wider piece of lace and added it to make the fancy dress. Small pearls complete the dress. A leftover piece of the lace is used in the lower left corner of the card. Dress is pop-dotted on the script mat.
Spellbinders Nestabilities - Label 10 is used for the scrip paper mat which is pop-dotted on the card.
Spellbinders Eyelet Circles is used for the sentiment mat.
Just Rite Dare to Dream set - sentiment - Dare to Dream
Just Rite Custom Dies- Corners at the top of card. Yes, I hid the right corner with the sentiment..could not find a place to put that mat!!
Recollections floral embellishments accent the pretty papers. I like to make my flowers using the Cricut machine but these bought flowers seemed to be a good choice today.
A crinkled ribbon bow and a Wimpole Street Creations fabric doily complete the look. I discovered a bag of these doilies that I had purchased many years ago from a fabric shop at a very good discount price. Thought it was time to use one!

Have a Lovely Day

Welcome to Glenda's Cards!

I have been playing with the Cricut and pretty laces again! Inspired by the photo and the design team's pretty work at The Shabby Tea Room, this is my results! Card is 5" x 7" cut from white Colorbok cardstock. The pretty papers are from DCWV The French Country Stack.  As you can see, some of these papers are glittered. Edges of the papers are distressed to give a shabby chic look.
Cricut Cartridges:
Formal Occasion - Page 45 Fan is cut 3" from white and the pink paper. I have been wanting to try the fan image for some time and thought this would be a good focal point for the card. I ran the pink paper through the Cuttlebug using the Swiss Dots folder. A strip of lace is gathered and glued around the edges. After the lace was attached, I found another piece of lace that I wanted to add. I hand cut the pretty lace and layered it over the pink paper. That is right! I covered up most of the embossing- but I do like the looks of the fan now. Fan is pop dotted on the card for dimension.
Mother's Day Bouquet - Flower 8 is cut 1.5' and 1.25" from white card stock. Flower is attached on the fan. In the center of the flower is a pretty gold metal filigree button with a pink stone.
Just Rite Stamps- Be Happy Set - "Have a Lovely Day" is stamped with Biscotti ink.
Recollections - Gold rhinestones are added on the fan and on the lace corner.
A white crinkled ribbon bow completes the look!
Photo inspiration

Challenge:
The Shabby Tea Room - Ch. 178 Lazy Days. Use colors from the photo and include a metal element.
I incorporated the blue, green, and white colors. Also gold from drapes and I used pink for the flower. Hope I did not use too much pink! Metal button!

Now who wants to relax in such a pretty setting as in the photo and maybe use the lacy fan!

Welcome Baby

For My Sheri Crafts post, please scroll down or click here.

Welcome to Glenda's Cards!

I have been playing with laces and ribbons trying to work on shabby chic again. Inspired by the Challenge 177 "Oh Baby!" at The Shabby Tea Room, this is my results for the baby card. I do not need a baby card, but wanting to play along, I chose soft pink dots and floral papers. Those papers are from DCWV Fresh Floral Stack. Papers are slightly distressed and torn! Card measures 5" x 6 1/2" cut from white card stock. White papers are Colorbok and Bazzill.

Cricut Cartridge is Mother's Day 2010. The baby carriage is cut 2.5". Tiny white rick rack is added to the carriage.
Spellbinders - Eyelet Circles. The largest size is used for the white mat. Pink ribbon is used around the mat and for the tiny bow.
Cuttlebug - Swiss Dots used on the eyelet circle mat.
Martha Stewart - Swirling Lace corner punch on the pink dot paper.
Lace, lace heart, and flower are from my stash! Tiny flowers on the wheels are Jolee's Boutique embellishments.

My Sheri Crafts - Ch. 116 Back to School

Welcome to Glenda's Cards!

Today is the start of a new and fun challenge at My Sheri Crafts! It is my turn to choose the theme for the challenge. With the start of a new school year fast approaching for my grandkids, I began thinking of school projects. Challenge 116 is Back to School! Include a school bus or school house! It must be school related!

For my project I chose to make a 12" x 12" scrapbook page! The paper pack is DCWV School Days. The white background sheet was trimmed down 1/4" on each side and layered on the red dot paper. I cut out the middle section of the red dot paper and used that part for the border cuts on the photo area. Just a way of using more of the paper! The sketch is my play with a Page Maps Nov. 2011 sketch.

Cricut Cartridges:
Elegant Edges - Page 25 Border on shift cut 2.25" from the solid red paper. Page 47 Border on shift cut 1.25" and the second one cut at .50" from the red dot paper.
Nate's ABC's - Page 22 Bus is cut 1.5"
Other supplies include the yellow Baker's Twine on the photo mat and 3rd grade is a sticker from the stash. I started scrapbooking before Cricut so now I have two drawers of stickers that are being forgotten. Time to use some!
After the first day of school photo is placed on the photo mat, my grandson will print his name under the photo. A perfect way to preserve his handwriting at that age!

Be sure to visit My Sheri Crafts and see all the pretty projects by the design team and our guest designer. For more details, please visit each individual blog. We appreciate you leaving us blog love!
Now it is your turn to play along with us! We look forward to seeing your school projects. One person will be chosen to be our next guest designer and several Ooh La La awards will be given.

Shabby Chic Flower

Welcome to Glenda's Cards!

Here I am again trying a shabby chic look for my card! Seldom do I have time to watch You Tube but with a little extra time lately, I entered a search for handmade shabby chic flowers. I was glad to find some wonderful tutorials by Fionna Jennings 664. Her work is gorgeous and I enjoyed watching a few of her videos! After viewing her video Shabby Chic Flower Tutorial - Less is More, I tried my hand at making the flower. Thanks Fionna for sharing your talents! I will be watching more videos!

The lace flower on my card is my take on the tutorial! This is fun and easy to make - just hard for me to choose which laces! I am pleased with the finished shabby flower. Laces, pink pearls, and the ribbon flower in the center were from my stash. I chose to use a pretty floral ribbon from blog candy winnings as my second layer rather than lace as in the tutorial. I need to start looking for pretty laces.

My card measures 5" x 7" cut from white cardstock. The paper is a leftover piece from a previous project. Trying to use all my scraps of the one piece, I hand cut the rose and vine strip off and added it to the lower section of the card. A strip of lace and the Recollections pink butterflies bling were attached on the edge of the strip. I was left with one small piece of paper. I cut that strip off at the scallops and added it at an angle to the top of the paper. Some of the pink pearls were used as accents. I like the results of my paper piecing!
Great way to use all the paper!

Cricut cartridge is Storybook. I cut each of the letters for the word LOVE at 1" from vellum paper.
Paper distressing and inking complete the look!

I am sharing my card at The Shabby Tea Room. Ch. 176 Fresh Summer Breeze..
Photo inspiration and use white/cream, aqua, soft pink, lace, and flowers.

It is time for another fun challenge at My Sheri Crafts! Challenge 115 is "Let's Take a Trip"! Our design team member Charlotte asked us to make a project that has something to do with traveling.
My card is 4" x 5 1/2" cut from white cardstock.
Cricut Cartridge: Pack Your Bags
This cartridge is a good choice for this challenge because it has so many travel images on it. I choose to use the cruise ship on page 24 and it is cut at 2". The phrase is on page 57 and cut at 1". Wanting to give a post card effect, I chose to use the anchor stamp image that is also on page 57.
Cuttlebug folder is Divine Swirls.

My Sheri Crafts - Ch. 112

Welcome to Glenda's Cards!

It is Saturday and time for another fun challenge at My Sheri Crafts. Ch. 112 is Summer Solstice- Longest Day. Our talented Sue asked us to make a card or project with a summer evening in mind. It could be a sunset or a view from your porch. My grandsons love baseball and in the evenings they can be found on the baseball field-either practice or playing in a game. Since I needed a birthday card for one grandson, I chose a fun shape baseball card. Cricut cartridge is Life's A Party. The card feature and phrase is on page 37. I did not record the sizes. Looking at the image in the Cricut handbook, you will see that the card is not a circle. I trimmed the area at the top of the card to make it a circle yet leaving the connected area intact. Papers are from the scrap stash! A simple card but my grandson liked it or maybe it was the money he found inside!!

Be sure to visit My Sheri Crafts to see the inspiring projects by our talented design team and guest designer. For more information on the projects, please visit the individual blogs. Don't forget to leave us a little love!
Now it is your turn to play along with us. Remember one person will be chosen to be our next guest designer and several Ooh la la awards will be given. We look forward to seeing your projects.

I am sharing photos of my grandsons in action at the ball field!

Today begins a new and fun challenge at My Sheri Crafts! Challenge 111 is Father's Day. Our design team member Sandy asked us to create a male card or project that includes some embossing on it. My card measures 5" x 6 1/2" cut from white cardstock. Papers are from The Paper Studio.
Cricut Cartridge is Phrases. I decided to take a simple approach to my male card and used a phrase as the focal point.

Through the Window!

Welcome to Glenda's Cards!

I had a little time to play with my Cricut and this is the results. My dear friend gave me the pretty paper pad quite some time ago and I could not make myself cut it until now! After seeing a couple of challenges, I decided to play along and cut the paper. It has glitter on some areas of the paper..not sure if you can see that in the photo. My card is 5" x 6 1/2" white cardstock and layered with the floral print paper.
Cricut Cartridges:
Christmas/Noel - Window is cut at 5". I layered a piece of vellum behind the window panes for the peeking through look!
Mother's Day Bouquet - Flower 3 is cut at 1.25" and 1" from a piece of the floral background paper.
The pretty crinkle ribbon is blog candy from Karen at Little Scrap Pieces. Many thanks Karen!
Lace and pearls are from my stash.

Challenges:
Papercraft Star - Ch. 146 Beauty. I love flowers and see beauty in each of the pretty blooms!
My Craft Spot - Ch. 98 Ribbon & Twine (Use ribbon or twine somewhere on project)
The Shabby Tea Room - Week. 167 Open Window - Inspiration by colors in the photo and add a window.

My first Cuttlebug Brocade Window card

Welcome to Glenda's Cards!

My Cuttlebug folders arrived! Whenever I saw the great sale on some older Cuttlebug folders at Cricut, I jumped at the chance to purchase the Emboss Plus 5" x 7" Brocade Window at $1.99. I wanted to buy more of the Emboss Plus folders, but they were already sold out.
This is my first card using the Brocade Window and I really like the looks! Card is 5" x 7" cut from a cream Recollections cardstock. The cut and embossed window is from The Paper Studio Light Burlap. For the window opening I used The Paper Studio Eloise Floral and the flowers are also cut from this paper.
Cricut Cartridge:
Mother's Day Bouquet - Flowers are cut using Flower 8 at varying sizes.
Martha Stewart Fern punch used for the greenery. I do not know the name of that punch so I call it greenery punch. If you know the name, please tell me!
Like most of us, I have bought crafting items that I seem to hoard!  Last year, I bought pretty paper pad, brads, buttons, die cuts, and trinkets of Bo Bunny Little Miss collection. For today's project, I chose to use the dress form and the green scroll die cuts from the collection..love those colors! Dress form is pop-dotted on the card.
Other supplies from my stash include the Venice Lace Collection motif, crochet doily, the button that is in the doily and the Love button which is pop-dotted on the card. These buttons have been stashed a long time. Recollection Pearls and Michael's ribbon trim for the bow complete the look. Of course, lots of inking!

Challenges:
BBTB2 - Flowers
Celebrate the Occasion - Ch. 112  3 Flowers, 2 buttons, 1 Ribbon,
CWC - Ch. 134 Lace
Paper Playtime - Ch. 10 Button or Brads  May 13 - May 26
The Shabby Tea Room - Ch. 166 Sweet SpringTime- Use pink, green, white or cream, and a sewing element

Hope you enjoy this card! Maybe you are inspired to use some of those crafty items that you have been hoarding! Thanks for your visits and comments!

Happy Mother's Day!

Welcome to Glenda's Cards!

Happy Mother's Day!
I'm sharing a few variations on a card that I recently posted.
This is the free Mother's Day Card 06 that was posted in the Cricut Craft Room. Of course, I had to go with Red and Purple for a few Red Hat Ladies! Flowers are from Cricut Mother's Day Bouquet. Each of the backgrounds is embossed with a different Cuttlebug folder.
Hope you have great day!
