Cricut Sentimentals

Welcome to Glenda's Cards!

Brrrr...It's is cold outside! Such a pretty day yesterday. Temperature was 80 degrees at 3 p.m. but with this current winter blast, the temperature plunged to 37 degrees by 10 p.m. last night. We had sleet/freezing rain in the area during the night, but thankfully not too much at my house. We have not had the weather in the South like many of you have been experiencing all winter. I am ready for Spring! I took the opportunity to play with my Cricut and made a card for a few challenges!

My card is cut using Cricut Sentimentals cartridge and pretty double-sided K&Company paper. I have not used the cartridge in a couple of years. I really like the hand with envelope image and previously used that image back in 2010, so I thought it was time to use it again! Surprise! All of my images are cut from the Sentimentals cartridges!

Cricut Sentimentals:
Page 66 - Pretty shaped Card is cut 10"w.
Page 42- 3 Scalloped circles cut 2.25" are used for the background.
Page 27 - Hand is cut 1.50" h. Hand is pop-dotted on the rectangle tag.
Page 66- Tag is cut 2.75" h. Using the Cricut Explore, text box and write feature, the words For You are written on the tag. This tag is pop-dotted on the circles for dimension.
Page 71 - With Love is used inside of the card.

Cuttlebug folders Script, Swiss Dots, and Heart Blocks are used on the green scalloped circles.

Other supplies include a pink ribbon/lace trim from my stash, Recollections rhinestone embellishments, and DMC Memory thread which was shaped into two hearts and made into a bow on the tag.

Just A Note!

Welcome to Glenda's Cards!

I have been playing with one of my forgotten Cricut cartridges. Cricut Just A Note cartridge was one of the free cartridges available with the purchase of the Cricut Expression 2. I am happy to see that it is  available for my use in the Cricut Design Space. I like how these cards have so many different shapes. Patterned papers are from a K&Company double-sided pad. Other papers are left over from previous projects.

Cricut Cartridge: Just A Note
Card cut 11"w x 5.48"h. Folded card measures approximately 3/3/4" x 5.5". Guess that is why it is called Just a Note!!
When the card is inserted into the Design Space, the Feel better sentiment is included on the screen. The sentiment is cut 3.39"w x 2.22"h. It does not include any layers for the sentiment. There is one Feel better image that has several layers so different paper colors can be used. However I did not see a layer for the first e in the word Feel. I chose to use only one paper.
The Bear has several layers. It was cut 3.82"w x 4.18"h.

Card with left side slightly opened.

Above two photos show the card laying flat. For the inside of the card, I hand cut a layered mat for a personal sentiment to be written.
Surprise! I only used one Cricut cartridge! This cartridge has some cute card images!

Challenges:
ABC Challenge - D is for Die Cuts
BBTB2: Shaped Cards
Die Cuttin Divas - Ch. 203 Odd Card

Hope you enjoy this shaped card! Thanks for your visits and comments!

A Wedding Card

I was able to play with the Cricut Expression 2 today and after viewing a few challenges, I am using a cute sketch from Card Patterns for my card. I will be entering the card in several challenges that are using a wedding theme this week. This is my take on the sketch and a wedding theme! The white card is 5 x 6 1/2".
Cricut Cartridges:
Cricut Solutions Wedding - Bells are third image on line 2 and cut at 2".
Cuttin' Up - Best Wishes is the main image on page 72 cut at 1.25 inch with pink and the shadow is the same size cut in white.
Martha Stewart - Swirling Lace Edge Punch
Paper - My Mind's Eye -pink stripe, The Girls' Paperie - patterned paper, K&Company -Pink ribbon, and Colorbok - white on the edge punch and bells.
Inking, pearls from my stash, and Diamond Stickles on the bells.

Challenges:
Card Patterns - Sketch 120
Fantabulous Cricut - Wedding theme - include the color white and a bell
Die Cuttin Divas - Wedding Bliss - any cut except for hearts
The ABC Challenge - W is for Wedding

I like Shabby Chic and Vintage and I was trying for that look with my wedding card. The patterned paper was my inspiration. Hope you enjoy!

Swirl Tree / Cuttlebug Acrylic Mat

'Up A Tree" is the theme Sherri chose for this week's Jitterbuggin' Challenge. I have almost been up a tree trying to choose a tree! Liking the swirl tree from Christmas Solutions Noel I decided to go with a winter Christmas theme. Along with adding a tree on the card, the challenge includes follow the sketch, add something yellow, and of course, a Cricut cut.

To add embossing to my background, I embossed a piece of acrylic--actually the clear packaging from a Cricut cartridge box--with the Cuttlebug Snowflakes folder. To add yellow, I cut a small starburst and placed on the tree. Adding a subtle hint of color for the appearance of a starburst, I inked the snowflake at the top of the tree with yellowish-gold ink. I thought that particular spot of the embossing looked good for the top of the tree! Edges of acrylic mat are slightly inked.

My tree is cut from Martha Stewart Holidays pack which was a previous Christmas clearance item. Love the green glitter page....cut it using pressure at 6 and multicut function on my Expression....cut beautifully! So much sparkle! Green corners are handcut. Using Martha Stewart snowflake punch, I cut a small length of white paper. Using the negative snowflake cut, I placed one on each corner.

Embellishments include 4 red circle-shaped gemstones on the mat and a little yellowish-gold gemstone on the star, plus some inking!

Cricut Cartridge: Christmas Solutions Noel - Tree cut at 4 inches and Starburst cut at 2 inches.
Cuttlebug Folder: Snowflake

Challenges:
Jitterbuggin' - Up a Tree
ABC Challenge - H is for Holidays
Anything Goes - Emboss It
Crafty Cardmakers - Dry Embossing
Fantabulous Cricut - Color Green and a Circle Shape (circle shapes in the embossing, paper and gemstones)

Hope you enjoy this card!!
